Audacity: is a high-tech voice recorder program that allows you to edit and record sound on your PC. You can record sound from live broadcasts over the Internet on websites. You can also record sound from the microphone and from any source connected with the computer.
 

Audacity introduces many improvements and changes such as cutting audios or cutting an unwanted audio clip. You can also import audio clips and merge several sounds together through the Layers system.


With Audacity you can add many audio effects to the sound, such as the echo, fading and amplification effect as well as controlling the volume and tone of the voice, increasing the volume without affecting its quality.


The program also gives you control over the speed of the sound recorded on the computer so that you can accelerate or slow down the speed, as well as remove noise background from the sound and get pure sound without noise.

Changes in Audacity 3.3.3:

  • Some built-in effects are realtime capable now
  • Added new Shelf Filter effect, it’s in the EQ & Filters category
  • Added initial (beta) version of a beats and measures feature, you can enable it via View → Toolbars → Time Signature Toolbar (beta), then right-clicking the timeline to change to beats and measures, and then changing the snapping and time and selection toolbar clocks to a beats format.
  • A new vertical ruler (Linear (dB)) has been added, you can enable it by right-clicking on the vertical ruler.
  • Project Rate has been moved to the Audio Setup button → Audio Settings and renamed Project Sample Rate
